Three Guardia Civil and two lawyers arrested in Málaga for drug running: "Three civil guards and two lawyers have been arrested in connection with an operation conducted by Internal Affairs of the Civil Guard in Malaga and in which ten more people were arrested for drug smuggling along the Costa del Sol.
The investigation, conducted by a court of the province, has been carried out from an Internal Affairs unit of the Guardia Civil based in Madrid and has been divided into two phases with at least twelve detainees, according to Málaga's Diario Sur newspaper.
The first arrests came following the discovery of a cache of drugs that was found last September 21 on a beach in Marbella. That day, investigators intercepted some 1,400 kilos of hashish which a drug trafficking organization sought to introduce in the Peninsula.
A few days after that performance there was a raid that ended with eight detainees, including two brothers who allegedly led the organization. Also arrested was a police officer attached to the Brigade of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil in Malaga, who was at the time on sick leave, and an attorney for alleged links to the facts investigated. Eight of those arrested in the raid entered Alhaurín prison on 15 October."
