Tax Authority uncovers millions of U.S. drugs money laundered in Murcia: "AEAT Tax Authority has released details of an operation in Murcia which has uncovered a network believed to be responsible for the laundering of millions of dollars from the illegal of sale of drugs in the United States. The amount involved is given by AEAT as 85 million dollars.
It’s understood from the EFE news agency that the operation, dubbed ‘Atalaya’, took place in June but has not been made public until now owing to a judicial order. Three suspects have so far have been taken into custody, but further arrests could take place as the operation remains open.
AEAT began its investigations in March this year after detecting financial and real estate investments made by Spanish and British nationals in three Spanish provinces: Murcia, Granada and Málaga. They then discovered that the capital which was used to fund the investments reached Murcia by bank transfer from the United States and from un-named fiscal paradises."
