Anger in Algeria sparks fresh riots

In the past 72 hours, the capital of Algeria, Algiers, has seen the largest wave of demonstrations and rioting in the last 20 years. Thousands of youngsters have come out to the streets burning shops and cars, building barricades and confronting riot police with rocks and everything else they can hold. The riots are taking place day and night while Algeria's government is keeping silent.

The "hogra" as Algerians call it, has spread to the rest of the country. over 20 cities, including Oran, Blida, Laghuat, Sidi Bel Abbes, Bejaia, Constantine, Tebessa, Setif, Mostaganem, Buira, Annaba, have joined in the protests. Mostly young people are protesting the high cost of living, rising prices, lack of social policy, the corruption and a bleak future that awaits them.
