MAN has been arrested by Guardia Civil for allegedly murdering a woman in Torrevieja on February 23.

She was selling her apartment and had placed an advert in a newspaper, to which this man answered and a viewing was arranged. Video surveillance shows him entering the building.

She was found murdered later that day by family members.

The detainee, a Spanish man, aged 35, from Cox, confessed he had only meant to rob the women, but when she resisted he beat her with a hammer on the head and strangled her to stop her screaming.

He claimed he thought she was unconscious and so bound and gagged her.

At the suspects home, officers found various personal items of the victim’s, including personal documentation, credit cards and keys to her car and house as well as her mobile phone and her watch.

Apparently the Guardia Civil are not convinced that his motives were solely economic and his family are said to not understand as he had never revealed any monetary problems.
