Spanish police have arrested 18 people, mainly Nigerians, on suspicion of sending those fake "you've got a relative who has left you a big inheritance" letters and emails.

If you reply, the crooks then con you into handing over money to pay taxes, insurance and whatever other rubbish reason they can dream up.

The police estimate this gang has netted £10million from victims in the UK, Europe and the US.

To back-up their lies, they sent documents drawn up by an accomplice at the foreign currency department of a Spanish bank.

Police in Spain acted with the help of the FBI in the United States and SOCA, Britain's Serious Organised Crime Agency.

They've seized computers, "a mountain of documents and letters", a fleet of luxury cars and 114 bank accounts have been frozen.
