Three men, all Romanians, have died after a fairground ride collapsed in Villacañas, Toledo on Monday night.
The fair had been set up as part of the town’s fiestas, and according to the 112 emergency services the tragedy occurred at 4am on what was the first night of the feria.
As well as the three fatalities there is another person seriously injured.

The Government Sub Delegate for Toledo, Javier Corrochano, explained that the injured person is a 16 year old woman, also Romanian, who has been admitted to the Virgen de la Salud Hospital in Toledo. She has undergone surgery for serious head injuries.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. It happened on the ‘Extreme’ ride which has oscillating group of four seats, one of which appears to have come detached. It's the first time the attraction had been erected in the town.

The Guardia Civil and Judicial Police are to investigate what has happened. The local council has called a meeting to decide whether to continue with the fiestas, although it is expected that several days official mourning will be declared.

It’s the most serious fairground accident to occur in Spain in the last 30 years.
