1.7 tons of cannabis seized in Torrox
The officer is based in Algarrobo and forms part of the Guardia’s drugs and illegal immigration unit. It’s understood that another four suspects were taken into custody over last Thursday and Monday this week.
Europa Press indicates that the investigations were led by the Civil Guard’s Organised Crime and Drugs Squad in Málaga, who brought in reinforcements from other Civil Guard stations and local police in the operation which seized the drugs. The 1.76 tons of cannabis were found stored in an isolated property in Torrox.
Other items seized in the three property searches that took place include 30 mobile phones, 7,000 € in cash, and six vehicles including two stolen vans which were used to transport the gang’s next cargo of cannabis.
The officer’s exact role within the network is under investigation.
