Organised crime group dealing with drug trafficking has been neutralised in the frames of an international police operation, the press ofice of the Interior Ministry announced.
Three Bulgarian nationals have been arrested. One of the Bulgarian was detained at the Barajas Airport, carrying 5.4 kilos of cocaine. The other two were detained in Bulgaria by officers with the territorial unit of the General Directorate for Fight against Organised Crime in the Northern city of Ruse, in cooperation with their colleagues from the coastal cities of Varna and Burgas.
There were police operations carried out on the territory of several European and Latin American countries for the neutralisation of the crime group. The group has been put under surveillance for several months.
During the investigation the Bulgarian anti-drug authorities made a thorough analysis of the trips made by certain Bulgarian citizens abroad, so as to ascertain the exact role of each of the crime group members.
As a result of the joint actions of the Bulgarian services and the customs authorities of Spain, a Bulgarian national, man aged 45 from Ruse, was arrested at the Barajas Airport in Spain, transporting 5.4 kilos of cocaine.
In the pace of the operation, carried out on the territory of the city of Ruse and the Golden Sands resort, authorities arrested a 43-year-old man with initials V.A., and 27-year-old man with initials A.D. According to initial data V.A. used to be in charge of the control on the mules. Authorities have ascertained other persons involved in the trafficking.
During the raids at several addresses, authorities have found large amount of SIM cards of Bulgarian and foreign cell operators, cell phones and other objects, proving involvement in crime activities.
